January 2011 - Winter Spielbany was great, though it was unfortunate that it was at the same time as Unpub 2, as I'd have liked to have gone to both! Grim City, The Forest Fire, and A Lawless Town are all crisping surprisingly nicely!
I've also decided to put up "Stars" for purchase over at TheGameCrafter.com - Check it out! |
December 2011 - So cold! Grim City seems to be shaping up finally. Started working on "A Lawless Town", a game centered around motivating players to bribe each other early and often, for 3 to 8 players. Doing some development work for others :) |
November 2011 - Grim City still undergoing strong mechanical revisions. People are really enjoying it, despite it being consistently "broken". Lots of favorable reviews of Grave Business popping up over at BGG, and some that aren't, like this (part one) (part two) over at cartrunkent.net.
Shelved the Smurfs? design because it hit the point where I felt it was basically complete, and I didn't like the resultant game. Also shelved Powder Keg/Goblin Bomb because people weren't connecting to the mechanics the way I'd hoped. I'll cannibalize them mechanically at some time in the future, I'm sure.
I'll be at BGG.con this month, ask me to show you how to play Grave Business! or to show you a prototype! or just say hi! |
October 2011 - The Fall Spielbany is coming up, looking to get in some more development work and maybe some plays of Grim City and The Forest Fire. |
September 2011 - Grave Business is now on store shelves nationwide! Ask for it at your local store! Also this month, I did some more work on a co-op with a growing traitor element, tentatively titled "Grim City", and went back to working on the Starpig/Ladder Rescue/Necropolis mechanic with "The Forest Fire", as well as some development work for another company (on a game other than my own). |
August 2011 - Attended GenCon, helped out at the Minion Games booth and ran demos of Grave Business in the game library. Copies were available at the convention, and should be hitting normal distribution channels in a few weeks :D Also got a playtest of "In Ruins" in at the end. Also, many thanks to my supportive friends at the con- James Mathe and the rest of the guys in the Minion Games cadre, Seth Jaffee, Michael Mindes, Shawn Storie, Andy Juell, Paul Chapman, Jeremiah Lee, Scot Martin, and anyone I may have forgotten for making it an enjoyable (yet tiring) con. |
July 2011 - Alas, the printers didn't bring copies of Grave Business to Origins as expected. The full shipment should be here in time for GenCon though. In the meantime, I hope to get lots of playtesting done at Protospiel this month! |
June 2011 - Origins is coming up quick, I'll be there, and the first copies of Grave Business should be available there for purchase as well! |
May 2011 - I'll be at Protospiel South, be there or be square! |
April 2011 - Spring Spielbany was much fun- got to try several interesting games, nothing awful, and also got more tests in for Caravan Imperative, Smurfs?, and In Ruins :) |

February 2011 - Attended Spinmaster's ToyFair party in NYC, then drove from there to Salt Lake City in Utah to attend SaltCon, to present my game "The Picnic Trick" at the design competition there (Got 3rd place in party/family games). Got in a playtest of "In Ruins" while I was there, amongst other people's games. |
January 2011 - Attended Spielbany again, and in addition to other people's games, got in plays of my "In Ruins", "Caravan Imperative", "Ribbity Flickit", and my new, mostly non-functional Viking game. |
December 2010 - "Grave Business" is scheduled to be published this coming year by Minion Games! (in the 2nd or 3rd quarter). The ToyVault Piecepack containing "Trade Routes" is also due out in the Q2. |
November 2010 - I attended Spielbany, where I got to test some other people's designs, as well as my own "Grave Business" and "Broker" some more. I will also hit BGG.con. |
October 2010 - I spent almost the entire month of October poking around Europe. I visited (in order): Paris, the Rhine river, Nuremberg, Prague, Munich, Vienna, Venice, Pisa, Rome, and capped it off by spending 4 days at Essen Spiel! Where I played a few games, bought a few games, and showed a few designs to publishers. (Then spent a day in Koln and a day in Frankfurt). |
September 2010 - Continued work on "Grave Business" in particular, but also on "Broker", "The Picnic Trick", and some others that aren't worth mentioning. |
August 2010 - Attended GenCon, wherein I played more games than I think I did at the last BGG.con. Notables (the ones I liked the most) were "7 Wonders" and "Sid Meier's Civilization". |
July 2010 - Attended Protospiel, experienced many good and not so good prototypes, and got to test my game "Broker", as well as one of the first few tests of "Grave Business" (which I was calling "The Corpse-taker Covenant" at the time). |
June 2010 - Attended Dallas Games Marathon, played lots of different games.
Also, it looks like "Trade Routes" will be included in ToyVault's new commercially released PiecePack set!
